Facelifted Ford Ecosport Coming Next Year, Could Get 4WD Option

Introduced in 2012 as a rival for the Nissan Juke, the #Ford Ecosport is due to get a mid-life cycle refresh.

The subcompact crossover will adopt some visual cues from its larger siblings, the Kuga and Edge, as well as the Sync3 infotainment system and possible trim updates, according to Autocar, which cites the brand's communications manager, Jeremy Schofield.

As far as the engine lineup goes, the 2018 Ecosport is expected to retain the current units, including the 1.0-liter and 1.5-liter petrol, and the 1.5-liter diesel.

However, along with the design updates, the crossover could also gain a four-wheel drive, as Schofield suggested: "15 percent of B-spec SUVs are four-wheel drive. It's a small, but significant proportion."

The updated Ford Ecosport will be unveiled in early 2017, with sales kicking off shortly after. Previous reports state that the small crossover will be offered in the United States as well later next year, but this has yet to be confirmed.
