Mercedes-Benz Tops Global Premium Segment Sales Charts

It's not even the end of the year yet, but analysts predict that #Mercedes-Benz will become the new premium sales king, grabbing the crown back from #BMW.

In the first 11 months, the three-pointed star shifted 1,893,619 units worldwide, up 11.8 percent, while BMW followed in second place, with 1,824,490, a 5.6 percent increase. During this time, Audi sold 1,713,900 cars, or 4.2 percent more than in the previous period.

Mercedes-Benz's officials are, understandably, satisfied with those results: "With double-digit growth since the beginning of the year, we surpassed last year's total unit sales by the Mercedes-Benz brand already in November. This makes 2016 a new record year for Mercedes-Benz", commented Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, responsible for MB Cars Marketing&Sales, Ola Kallenius.

Pushed by the C-Class Sedan and Estate, which were the brand's best-selling models in November, Mercedes-Benz delivered 182,602 cars globally last month, up 12.7 percent. Demand for the new E-Class was also high, while significant growth came from its SUVs, too, especially the GLC.

For BMW, the global trend towards SUVs was reflected in their X family, where the X1 and X5 were the best-sellers, but significant increase was also achieved by the 7-Series flagship and the electrified lineup, rounding up to 177,740 units, a 5.9 percent increase.

Audi, on the other hand, went all in with their new models, the Q2 and A5, while in the US the Q7 was among the best-sellers. Overall, the brand achieved 154,050 sales in November, up 4.3 percent over the same month in 2015.
