Smart Forfood Rolls Into Bologna As The World's Tiniest Gourmet Food Truck

Putting a full kitchen on wheels, as you may have seen from the Jon #Favreau film Chef, necessitates a rather sizable truck. But Daimler's city car brand has managed to squeeze it all down into a smaller package with the debut of the Smart #Forfood concept.

Revealed at the Bologna Motor Show just last week, the Smart Forfood is the result of a collaboration between the automaker, Italian coffee brand Lavazza and their mutual brand ambassador (and Michelin-starred chef) Davide Oldani.

The concept is based on the latest Smart Fortwo and packs a mobile kitchen in the boot. Lavazza provided its latest cappuccino machine and kitchen outfitter Focaccia Group an induction cooktop, juicer, fridge, refrigerated bottle rack, cutlery and plates.

The contrasting frame (“Tridion Safety Cell” in Smart-speak) is done up in a grayscale tablecloth plaid motif to further emphasize the culinary theme, and the interior upholstery stitched with a cutlery pattern. Short perhaps of the Paris salon, we couldn't think of a more fitting place to have unveiled the show car than the gastronomical mecca (and automotive industrial hub) that is Bologna.
