Skoda Spills Even More Details On The Updated 2017 Octavia

#Skoda revealed more information about the changes made to its best-selling Octavia model, focusing mostly on improving the comfort levels of the interior.

Not that the Czech model needed any significant improvement inside as it’s already one of the most spacious and comfortable cars of its price range. With the latest facelift though, Skoda went on and made some subtle changes to make the Octavia even nicer to sit in.

Ambition models now feature a black/brown combo, with the other trim levels also updated with new patterns. Style and Laurin & Klement models get ambient lighting as standard, with narrow light guides setting the mood in ten available colors.

Other details include new bottle holders in the centre console, allowing PET bottles to be opened with one hand, a heated steering wheel and three customizable keys. The latter two are part of the new comfort package, with the keys adjusting the car to the driver’s preferred settings, including driving profile selection, assistance systems, indoor and outdoor lighting, Climatronic, infotainment systems and electrically adjustable seats.

The highlight of the cabin though is the new series of infotainment systems. Measuring up to 9.2 inches in diameter, the new infotainment system features a display that reacts to a light touch of the finger rather than pressure and comes with a fast and easy operation. A high quality glass design for the screen is also standard to all systems bar the most basic one. MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard to all systems, with the range-topping one to offer integrated Wifi hotspot and a true HD display.

Models from the Ambition trim level and up also get a wireless charging dock for your smartphone while 230-volt and USB ports can also be fitted in the rear as an option.

The engine range remains one of the widest in the segment, offering in total five petrol and four diesel units, ranging from 84hp to 184hp. 1.8TSI and 2.0TDI models can be optionally fitted with all-wheel drive as well.
