Peugeot has revealed more about the 208 T16 Pikes Peak that Sébastien Loeb will be driving at the Colorado event in June.
While the mid-rear engine layout has been inspired by the infamous 205 T16 Group B rally car from the 1980s, many of the components are derived from the more recent 908 endurance racer.
They include not only the 3.2 litre V6 bi-turbo engine, transmission and air intake, but also the huge rear wing that should generate plenty of downforce.
As suspected, the carbon fibre bodywork encloses a steel spaceframe chassis. It’s a combination that makes the 208 T16 extremely light and helps produce some very impressive acceleration figures.
