2014 Holden Colorado and Colorado 7

The launch of the 2014 Colorado pick-up and Colorado 7 SUV sees the introduction of upgraded powertrains and enhanced equipment levels.

One of the most significant changes is the arrival of a new 2.8 litre Duramax 2 turbocharged diesel engine. With 197 bhp (147 kW / 200 PS), power output is up by 22 bhp (17 kW / 23 PS) compared to its predecessor.

Peak torque depends on the transmission, which in turn is determined by the model chosen. Standard on the Colorado 7 is an updated six-speed automatic transmission that now allows the four-cylinder motor to produce 500 Nm (368 lb/ft).

The Colorado trucks meanwhile come with a new six-speed manual gearbox and a slightly lower torque figure of 440 Nm (324 lb/ft). The automatic alternative is on the options list, though.

For 2014, the Colorado 7’s specification has been improved, with a rear view camera, a 7” colour touchscreen with Bluetooth-enabled MyLink, front-seat side airbags, trailer sway control, hill start assist and hill descent control all included as standard.

Likewise, the Colorado gains the front side airbags and hill descent control on all models except the DX trim grade. Additionally, the LX, LT and LTZ pick-ups get rear parking sensors, while a rear view camera features on LTZ versions.
