2014 Honda Gold Wing F6C unveiled

Honda’s Gold Wing motorcycle family is gaining a third member.

The new F6C is a stripped-back, unfaired cruiser that will sit alongside the existing F6B bagger and full-dress GL1800 tourer in the range. In North America, it’s going to be known as the Valkyrie, reviving a name from the past.

A relative lightweight at 341 kg (752 lbs) thanks to the lack of bodywork, the F6C features the same twin-spar aluminium frame that’s used by the other two Gold Wing models. However, a unique rear subframe lowers the tail, while a change in steering geometry stretches the wheelbase from the F6B’s 1,690 mm (66.5”) to 1,707 mm (67.2”).

Likewise, power comes from the familiar 1,832 cc, six-cylinder engine which produces 167 Nm (123 lb/ft) of torque at 4,000 rpm. It comes connected to a five-speed transmission and a shaft drive system.

Available in Europe with a choice of either Graphite Black or Bordeaux Red paintwork, the F6C’s standard specification includes full LED lighting and anti-lock brakes. A UK price has yet to be announced.
