Lito Green Motion Sora production begins

The electric motorcycle market is about to get another contender. Canadian company Lito Green Motion is beginning production of its Sora following a development process that has lasted a few years.

Featuring a bobber-styled rear end and café racer influences up front, the Sora is constructed around an aluminium frame with minimal carbon fibre bodywork attached. One of the bike’s individual attributes is an electronically-adjustable seat that can be varied in height from 750 mm (29.5”) to 850 mm (33.5”).

But perhaps of more importance is the Sora’s powertrain. It consists of a liquid-cooled AC motor that delivers 90 Nm (66 lb/ft) of torque via a continuously variable transmission and a belt-drive system.

Energy is provided by a 12 kWh lithium-polymer battery pack, which Lito Green Motion says should give ranges of 62 miles (100 kilometres) on the highway and 124 miles (200 kilometres) in the city. To put those distances into context, a Brammo Empulse achieves 58 and 128 miles (93 and 206 kilometres) respectively.

Recharge time is lengthy at around nine hours, although regenerative braking will top-up the battery while on the road. To combat range anxiety the unique Safe Range System manages power delivery after the rider has input their destination into the onboard GPS device.

The Sora is due to make its public debut at the Montreal Motorcycle Show, which opens on the 28th of February.
