Indeed, the Renegade is being offered with sixteen powertrain combinations to satisfy as many markets as possible. The transmission choice alone comprises a nine-speed automatic, a dual-clutch automatic and two manual gearboxes.
All versions will come with either the Active Drive or Active Drive Low full-time four-wheel drive systems. Both feature Selec-Terrain driving mode selection, while the latter additionally has a 20:1 crawl ratio for enhanced slow-speed control.
Active Drive Low is fitted as standard to the Trailhawk, a variant that has been created specifically for anyone thinking of doing some more challenging off-road driving. Also included in its specification are an exclusive ‘Rock’ Selec-Terrain setting, all-terrain tyres, skid plates and hill-descent control. Furthermore a 20 mm (0.8”) higher ride height and unique bumpers allow for a 480 mm (18.9”) water-fording depth and 30.5° approach, 25.7° breakover and 34.3° departure angles.
The 2015 Renegade is going to be built at Fiat’s factory in Melfi, Italy. Launch dates and prices have yet to be confirmed.
