2015 Nissan Murano revealed

Nissan has unveiled its all-new third-generation Murano mid-size crossover.

A ‘floating’ roof, boomerang-shaped lights, a bold grille and dramatic surfacing all contribute to a striking design. Indeed, it bears a very strong resemblance to the Resonance Concept that first appeared at the 2013 North American International Auto Show.

Nissan describes the five-person interior as a ‘social lounge’ that focuses on comfort. The seats use a three-cushion structure and they can be climate-controlled in the front and heated in the rear. Dual-zone temperature control comes as standard, while among the options list items are a sliding panoramic moonroof, leather upholstery, driver’s seat memory and a heated steering wheel.

Another priority has been to provide intuitive controls for the driver. To that end, an Advanced Drive Assist Display sits within a low-set instrument binnacle. It can be complemented by an 8” colour touchscreen which significantly reduces the number of dashboard buttons. Furthermore, the Murano will be offered with various radar and camera systems including the 360° Around View Monitor.

For now the only engine is a 3.5 litre V6 petrol unit that produces 260 bhp (194 kW / 263 PS) with 325 Nm (240 lb/ft) of torque. It’s connected to an Xtronic continuously variable transmission and buyers can choose front- or all-wheel drive. There’s no word yet on whether there’ll be any hybrid or diesel alternatives, either of which would be more acceptable in Europe.

In North America deliveries of the 2015 Murano are due to begin late this year. UK availability has still to be confirmed, though.
