SsangYong Korando Sports DMZ introduced

SsangYong hails from South Korea, a country which has been separated from North Korea by the Demilitarized Zone since 1953. So naming a Korando Sports limited edition after that narrow strip of land is somewhat apt (but very odd).

Adding to the strangeness is a camouflage colour scheme. While conspicuous, it does make the pick-up look more suited to a Third World conflict rather than UK roads. Perhaps not a sensible choice given current events, then.

The Korando Sports DMZ is based on the existing range-topping EX trim grade. Standard equipment includes roof rails, 18” alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, Bluetooth connectivity, leather upholstery, heated front seats and a power-adjustable driver’s seat.

It features a 152 bhp (114 kW / 155 PS) 2.0 litre e-XDi diesel engine mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. On-demand four-wheel drive is also fitted.

Pricing starts from £19,195 (excluding VAT). That figure represents a premium of £1,000 compared to the regular EX.
