BMW Recalls One X3. Yes, Just One.

We regularly see recalls big and small coming across our desks, but this one is the smallest yet. And it can't get any smaller than this, because this latest campaign posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is for one vehicle. Yep, just one.

The vehicle in question is a 2017 BMW X3 – specifically an xDrive 28i model manufactured this past June 7. (That's not the actual vehicle in the pictures, since that one's a 2015 model from Germany, but the affected unit is of the same generation and will undoubtedly look much like it.)

Apparently the contact pins on the control unit for the vehicle's electronic power steering system “may not have been welded properly,” which could increase the risk of a fire.

Fire being no good for a car (outside the confines of the engine's combustion chamber), BMW is notifying the vehicle's owner to bring it in to his or her local dealer to have the EPS system replaced. We don't imagine it will take much time to complete this particular recall campaign.
