Renault-Nissan Forms In-House Tech Startup

It has emerged that Renault-Nissan have formed an in-house start-up division focusing on the next-generation of mobility.

Automotive News reports that the new division is being led by Renault-Nissan Alliance senior vice president Ogi Redzic, a man who previously worked at the HERE mapping service once owned by Nokia.

It is thought that the start-up already has 300 employees and will play a pivotal role in the development of advanced technologies and mobility services expected to feature in future Renault and Nissan models.

Speaking of the internal start-up, Alliance chief executive Carlos Ghosn said “I expect the global auto industry to see more changes in the next five years than it has in the last 20. Those changes will bring tremendous opportunities for those with the skills and talents to help the Alliance.”

Details about this division come less than a month after the Renault-Nissan Alliance announced an agreement with Microsoft for the development of connected driving technologies.
