Stunning Maserati MC12 Bound For Auction Without Reserve

As we wait with baited breath to see if a #LaFerrari-based #Maserati hypercar comes to fruition, one example of the Italian brand's most extreme road car to date, the MC12, will be auctioned by RM Sotheby's without a reserve.

The model will be sold as part of the auction house's Duemila Ruote sale scheduled for 25-27 November and is a rare example to have been originally delivered in Italy.

As we all know, the Maserati MC12 is based around the Ferrari Enzo and only 50 units were constructed for road use. Despite its rarity, the MC12 has never become a collector's car to the same extent as the Enzo. With that being said, some examples have sold for in excess of $2 million at auction.

The car in question has less than 6,000 km (about 3,700 miles) on the clock and was recently serviced by the official Ferrari and Maserati dealership in Modena, Italy. It has also been installed with an aftermarket rear-view camera, something we imagine would prove particularly useful for a car without a rear window.

Like the Enzo, the MC12 is driven by a naturally-aspirated 6.0-liter V12 engine pumping out 630 hp and funneled to the rear wheels via a six-speed paddle-shift transmission.
