2017 Porsche 911 Turbo S Is Hardest-Launching Car Ever Tested By Motor Trend

The 2017 #Porsche 911 #Turbo S has proven that ‘Turbo’ #badged Porsche #models remain among the quickest road-legal #cars.

During a recent test of the facelifted 991.2 Turbo S, Motor Trend discovered that it was the hardest-launching car it has ever tested, setting records in the 0-30 mph, 0-40 mph and 0-50 mph sprints, only losing out to the Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari LaFerrari from 0-60 mph.

While testing at Auto Club Speedway, the latest Turbo S hit 30 mph in a scintillating 0.9 seconds, 0.2 tenths up on the LaFerrari and 0.3 tenths quicker than its bigger brother, the 918 Spyder. It then clocked 40 mph just 0.4 seconds later, once again eclipsing all hybrid hypercars and the Bugatti Veyron. Accelerating from zero to 50 mph took just 1.8 seconds before it hit 60 mph in exactly 2.5 seconds, just behind the LaFerrari and 918 tied at 2.4 seconds.

The Turbo S’s breakneck speeds come despite the fact that it is outpowered by many other supercars and hypercars on the market. As a matter of fact, it ‘only’ has 580 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque at overboost from its twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine.

However, the rear-engined layout allows the all-wheel drive system to achieve enormous levels of grip which coupled with a seven-speed PDK transmission and potent launch control system results in truly mind-blowing acceleration figures.
