Buick Velite Concept Debuts In Guangzhou, Previews Future Eco-Friendly Cars

Initially believed to become China's Chevrolet Volt, the Buick Velite actually previews the brand's new design language and serves as a template for future eco-friendly cars.

Presented in a premiere at the 2016 Guangzhou Auto Show and created by Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC), GM, and SAIC, the study is said to have "an innovative crossover body that combines a sporty design with practical space", combining flowing lines and sculpted curves with a wing-shaped grille and matrix LED headlights.

Buick has yet to release images with the interior, but states that it includes recycled materials, and features such as the ambient lighting or panoramic sunroof are part of the package. Moreover, its entire cabin layout serves as a preview for upcoming new energy vehicles, as the company writes, and users will get to enjoy an interactive human-machine experience with the application of innovative technology, and remote operation.

the Buick Velite Concept also benefits from a 360-degree intelligent traffic induction system, supported by sensors in its bodywork, which enables functions such as night vision, low-speed automatic driving, lane and safety distance keeping, and high-speed cruise control.

So far, the sole info concerning its mechanical parts is that it's a plug-in hybrid electric, which uses GM's modular intelligent electric drive system and a lithium-ion battery pack.
