Dacia Chief On Bringing The Renault Kwid To Europe: "Never Say Never"

Ever since it was introduced last year in India, and more recently in other emerging markets across Latin America, the #Renault Kwid has been subjected to several reports.

One of them hints towards the possibility of the small hatch being rebadged as a Dacia and sold in Europe. So far, though, the company's officials have denied they were planning to do so.

Until now, that is, because Dacia's Commercial Director, Francois Mariotte, commented on the issue. "Never say never, we have seen in the history of Dacia", he said, after being asked by JournalAuto, quoted by AutoPlus, about the Kwid's possible future on the Old Continent.

Mariotte added that the Romanian car manufacturer relies on large volume sales, rather than niches, referring to the purchasing power of European customers compared to that of those living in emerging markets.

Bringing the Renault Kwid in Europe and rebadging it as a Dacia could prove to be quite a challenge, as the A-segment hatchback, which would slot in the lineup right under the Sandero, needs to receive substantial structural improvements in order to grab a satisfactory score in the Euro NCAP tests; the Indian version, which managed to receive just one star by Global NCAP, just won't do.
