Mini Details Hot New JCW Clubman With AWD And 228HP [54 Pics]

#Mini is launching the range-topping John Cooper Works version of the #Clubman in Europe which means that we finally get all the details of their new hot six-door model.

This is the first time Mini has paired the turbocharged 228hp (231PS) 2.0-litre turbo engine with its ALL4 all-wheel drive system which sort of positions the new Mini JCW Clubman in a niche corner of the hot hatch segment.

Mini offers the new JCW Clubman with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, with the option of an eight-speed automatic. Whichever transmission you choose, 0-62mph (0-100km/h) comes in the same 6.3 seconds while top speed is set at 147mph (238km/h).

Standard features of the new range-topper include LED headlamps, MINI Driving Modes, Park Distance Control and camera-based active cruise control with brake function among others. As you would expect, the chassis also comes with its own setup which includes a set of bigger Brembo brakes, a sportier steel suspension as standard (with adaptive dampers offered optionally), a more liberating exhaust system with dual pipes and 18-inch alloys among others.

The bodywork features a subtle John Cooper Works body kit, with larger air inlets, model-specific side sills, a rear spoiler and a honeycomb pattern for the front grille. JCW logos can be found at all the usual places while there is an exclusive Rebel Green paint finish option with a contrasting red roof and mirror caps as well.

The cabin features specific sports seats with integrated headrests, an anthracite roofliner, stainless steel pedals and a JCW leather steering wheel. Mini offers their 6.5-inch infotainment system as standard, with an 8.8-inch unit offered as an option.

Mini fans will certainly love the new JCW Clubman for its mix of style, performance and AWD versatility but -at least in Europe- it will face a hard time proving itself against models like the similarly priced VW Golf R Estate.
