Lamborghini's Betting Big On Exclusive Models And Intoxicating Sound

With the new Urus coming up fast, Lamborghini has been steadily expanding its factory in Sant'Agata Bolognese. But it's not just the SUV that will benefit from the expansion as the Italian automaker has announced two new developments at its headquarters on the outskirts of Bologna.

The first has to do with its prototype and pre-series vehicle facility. The dedicated workshop opened in 2012 to handle small-scale production away from the principal assembly lines for the Huracan and Aventador.

The facility will now be expanding by nearly 50 percent, from 5,000 square meters (~54,000 square feet) to 7,000 square meters (75k square feet). That ought to allow Lamborghini to make more limited-run models like the Centenario and Veneno, as well as show cars like the Asterion, and potentially get them out the door faster.

At the same time, the Raging Bull marque is also building a new acoustic test room that will allow it to better fine-tune the delicious noise we've come to expect from the brand's naturally aspirated V10 and V12 engines – which could come particularly in handy as the company prepares to launch its first twin-turbo V8 engine in the forthcoming Urus, and looks at a future that could include hybridization in the future.
