Audi’s RS Q3 Performance delivers extra pace

Compared to a regular RS Q3, the new Performance version squeezes an additional 26 bhp (20 kW / 27 PS) from its turbocharged 2.5 litre petrol engine.

That increase, which comes courtesy of a larger-capacity radiator and a modified fuel pump, means output becomes 362 bhp (270 kW / 367 PS). Peak torque meanwhile is rated at 465 Nm (343 lb/ft).

As a result, the 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time drops from 4.8 to 4.4 seconds. Furthermore, there's no electronic limiter, so the crossover's top speed rises to 167 mph (270 km/h).

Standard equipment includes an S tronic seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, quattro all-wheel drive, a stiffer suspension set-up and multi-mode dynamic handling.

At first glance not much differentiates the RS Q3 Performance model, but numerous exterior trim pieces and the 20” alloy wheels do gain a smart matt titanium finish.

However, some prospective customers might want more visual impact. After all, with an on-the-road price of £49,175, it attracts a sizeable premium of £3,365.
