2017 BAC Mono To Bring Some Single-Seater Goodness In LA

The UK-based Briggs #Automotive Company (#BAC) brought their famous single-seater Mono model to this year’s LA Motor Show.

The 2017 BAC Mono comes with a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre engine that produces 305bhp and 227lb-ft (308Nm) of peak torque which combined with its 580kg weight figure gives it a staggering power-to-weight ratio of 525hp per tonne. 0-60mph comes in 2.8 seconds.

Other updates include a five-stage traction control, an intelligent launch control and an auto upshift function which can be turned off via the multifunction steering wheel. The wheel itself now has a faster-ratio rack, with 1.7 turns from lock to lock while BAC has added an electronic parking brake which further reduces weight off the car.

All 2017 BAC Monos now come with the company’s wider chassis as standard, offering more space for the driver. BAC is now working on establishing its official North American operations, with their HQ set in Sonoma, California and a direct Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) strategy about to be launched.

“This is the optimum time in the evolution of the North American market for BAC to enter the region as the OEM,” said Mark Rayner, BAC's Chief Operations Officer and North American President. “From 2016, the company intends to expand its dealer and service center offering with pivotal dealers, who aspire to increase our brand awareness and Mono ownership in one of our larger markets.”

The British car maker wants to provide technical support, dealer acquisition and technician training, aiming to have between 8 to 10 dedicated dealers across the USA over the next 12 months.
