BMW Could Launch 1-Series Sedan In Brazil, Local Production Possible

Initially announced solely for the Chinese market, the new #BMW 1-Series Sedan could eventually go across the ocean and launch in Brazil, too.

According to NoticiasAutomotivas, which is citing the QuatroRodas magazine, the Germans are currently studying whether it is feasible or not to produce the compact four-door in the South American country, but if it will be eventually approved, then expect it to come to life in the brand's Santa Catarina facility.

Unveiled in its final form earlier this year and meant to take the battle with the Audi A3 Sedan and Mercedes-Benz CLA to more affordable grounds, the BMW 1-Series Sedan continues to be kept in the dark when it comes to its exact specs, but we do know that it is underpinned by the UKL architecture. This means that front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is probably on the options list.

On the Chinese market, the car will go on sale early next year, following its debut at the 2016 Guangzhou Auto Show in November, in several flavors, including the 118i, with a 136 HP 1.5-liter petrol mill, and with a 2.0-liter engine, available in two outputs - 192 HP and 231 HP, on the 120i and 125i variants, respectively.
