Jeep Sends Off The Wrangler JK With New Special Editions

As sales of the #Jeep Wrangler have declined, the FCA-owned brand is looking to keep it on a competitive level before it launches its replacement next year.

To do so, the SUV-maker plans to add new special editions that will go on sale in December, AutoNews writes.

Set to remain in production until February, the first one is reportedly known as 2017 Jeep Wrangler Sport Freedom and will get the Freedom star on the hood and rear fenders, the American flag decal on the driver's side front fender, 18-inch Sahara special wheels, taillight guards, new rear heavy-duty cast differential cover and several other additions. Prices for this version will allegedly kick off from $30,690 for the two-door model, while the four-door should add an extra $3,900, shipping included.

Running until May next year, the second addition to the current Wrangler family will be the Sahara Winter, featuring LED headlights and fog lamps, off-road rock rails, a standard hard top, special decals and badging on the outside, remote start and optional body coloring. This, too, will be available as a two-door, for $37,440, while the four-door is expected to retail from $41,240.

Additionally, other Jeep Wrangler limited editions are believed to go on sale next year, and some of the names mentioned by AutoNews include the Sport Big Bear, Sahara Chief, and Sahara Smoky Mountain, coming in from February until July, from March until June, and from March to July respectively. Moreover, the Rubicon Recon edition is set to replace the Rubicon Hard Rock.

As for the next generation Jeep Wrangler, known as JL, this is expected to hit the assembly lines in mid-2017 at FCA's Toledo Assembly Complex.
