The New Ducati 1299 Superleggera Is Like A Lamborghini On Two Wheels

#Ducati unveiled six new products at the EICMA show in Milan, but the one we’re interested in is the 1299 Superleggera. It might sport a Ducati badge, but it could very well be a Lamborghini.

Why? Because it perfectly depicts Lamborghini’s philosophy, using carbon fiber and raw power to offer a unique, fast, and stunning-looking package. As you might know, Ducati is now owned by the Italian supercar manufacturer, and the 1299 Superleggera is as mental as the raging bulls from Sant'Agata Bolognese.

The factory supersport bike is the first of its kind to be equipped with carbon fiber everything – and we mean everything. The frame, swing arm, sub-frame, and wheels are all made from the composite material, with Ducati stating that no motorcycle manufacturer has ever produced such a thing.

And the engineering genius doesn’t stop with its exterior, as the carbon fiber shell houses the highest-performing version of the Superquadro – Ducati’s oversquare 1285cc engine, with 116 x 60.8mm bore and stroke.

The powerplant develops 215 hp @ 11,000 rpm making it the most powerful (factory) twin-cylinder ever built. It also features titanium con rods, sand-cast crankcase, and an all-titanium Akrapovič exhaust with high-mount dual silencer.

To stop its rider from harming himself, the 1299 Superleggera comes equipped with every electronic system imaginable, including Ducati’s Traction Control EVO, and Slide Control, as well as Bosch’s Cornering ABS.
