165 PS Diesel Joins Renault Megane GT And Megane Estate GT Range

Buyers on the lookout for a compact car with sporty abilities and low fuel consumption can now head for #Renault's new #MeganeGT and #MeganeEstateGTdCi.

Building upon the dCi 160 PS (158 HP) from the Espace and Talisman, the new Energy dCi mill now sports a total of 165 PS (163 HP) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque, available from as low as 1,750 rpm.

Renault hasn't released performance figures yet, but it states that NEDC combined-cycle fuel consumption sits at 4.6 and 4.7 l/100 km (51.13-50.05 mpg US) for the hatch and estate respectively.

The upgraded Megane GT diesels come with the Renaultsport developed suspension and the 4Control chassis with four-wheel steering found on the TCe 205 version, which, in turn, should keep enthusiasts warm until the range-topper Megane RS joins the range, probably next year.

Additionally, buyers of the two aforementioned cars can also specify a GT-Line Exterior Pack for the Zen and Intens versions, This includes a sportier front bumper with redesigned air intakes, honeycomb grille pattern, extra-tinted rear glass, Dark Metal diffuser, chrome exhaust tailpipe and new alloy wheels. The Intens can also be had with the GT-Line Full Exterior Pack that adds sport seats with extra support, integrated headrests, Dark Charcoal cloth upholstery and a perforated leather-trimmed GT steering wheel with bigger thumb rests.

Renault has already started taking orders for the Megane GT and Megane GT Estate dCi in France, with other markets to follow shortly, where the cars will hit showrooms next January. Prices for the former start from €34,300, while the wagon can be had from €35,200.
